Enterprise search and AI agents that respect permissions
Role: Designed and built the whole Catalyma AI platform: connectors, search, Ask and agents, permissions, model routing and production.
Result: Every source ACL is checked before content reaches the model. If a check fails or is unclear, access is denied (fail-closed).
SmartPlatform (Catalyma AI) lets employees search, ask questions and run agents over company sources such as documents, wikis, tickets and databases, without ever seeing content they are not allowed to see.
Scope of the work
- Connectors and sync: documents, wikis, tickets and databases sync on a schedule (Celery + Redis) together with their source permissions.
- Hybrid search: one OpenSearch index over every synced source.
- Ask and agents: answers and autonomous agents work only with content the user may see.
- Fail-closed permission layer: source ACLs are mirrored and enforced before retrieval, and an error denies access.
- Model routing: multi-provider LLM gateway with a model picker and usage accounting.
- Web app: Next.js frontend on a FastAPI backend.
- Production pipeline: CI gates and a dedicated VPS deployment, verified release by release.
- Wireframe kit: a private kit so non-developers can design governance and permission features against the real product.
